incident of today
« on: December 11, 2002, 01:31:03 PM »
I have worked with a salesman for 5 years now, and noticed early
on that every monday morning he acted like it was his first day at work on the job...Just by the type of problems he would ask about, like Voice mail password one monday, webex passwords every monday, how to print?... "CLick Print" that sorta thing...
And its like every monday morning the same BS...Quick stop what your doing and help me out!
So this monday it took a bizarre twist as far as I am concerned..
He rushes in my office and interrupts me on the phone..I am on the phone with a Corporate Client and answering basic software type questions.. The salesman is standing tapping me on the shoulder, I try to ignore him but he has got my curiosity peeked at this time...So I mute the customer and say to the salesman
ok what could possibly be so important that I have to interrupt a corporate client? The salesman says well I have this error on my screen...And I think its a virus... And you need to come and look at it quickly... So I ask the client if I can Hold the call for a cup of coffee... No problem...So I run thru the building thinking Here we go another Virus spewing aroiund the email boxes and I will have to stay late scouring the network for a weekend, make sure that NAV did its job... I get to the salesmans office and sit down and I see the normal network login you know the one user name with password underneath... Looks like a normal login screen... So I ask the salesman who has been entering his password into this screen for 5 years, is this the screen you made me run across the building for? He looks over and says yeah.... thats the screen what do you think... I said could be serious.. But have you tried reading the fricken message.... "salesman" well ahhh no ehhh"
ok how bout sitting down here and reading to me word for word what you see please...
As I left he was staring and shaking his head in disbelief...
My evil twin is thinking to himself as I walk back to my desk.."Florida truly is the freak state"
But it also occurs to me that damn... in 30 years that may be me
not reading the message... I need to lighten up a bit and be more compassionate before the tables are turned!!!

Sounds like this guy has a problem with his memory.  I met a guy who had all sorts of notes posted all over the inside of his car, like 'release parking break before accelerating', and thinks like that.  He had some sort of serious memory problems that made him forget everyday things.  Long term memory was ok.

Had a customer like that. Couldn't remember his password, didn't help even after we changed it to his first name. Couldn't help but rib him about it. Hmmmm, maybe that's why I lost that customer. :D

back when I worked at an insurance company I had a client get very rude on the phone.  so I politly asked him to hold while I checked out his file.  then I went to lunch.  came back an hour later (had mostly forgot about the guy by then) and seen I had a call holding.  I couldn't believe it was the same guy, so I picked it up and after saying hello I got a big " F- YOU!!" then he hung up.  very determined to get the last word in I guess.

Lord, I'm glad I don't work in an office or deal with the public anymore.

We have  man like that at work..

Every freaking day it's something new..the guy is like 300 freaking years old and I have no idea how the hell he finds his way home after work.

Same thing, can't remember how to print, can't do his timesheet even tho there are WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS TAPED to his monitor...They even changed the way we do our timesheet report printing because he kept accidentally printing out 500 page reports instead of his timesheet..

he stutters too and he smells and I hate him.

bastard.

as to the rude tapping on your shoulder while you are on the phone...I've actually had people follow me INTO THE BATHROOM!!!! to get help with their computers.

i'm like hey

I'M BUSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jfc...

If I were you I'd start enthusiastically picking my nose at that point.

Give them something to stare at.  :D
