C'mon, Weazel, you got it. You basically likened the current secret service agents assigned to Bush to SS agents. You insinuated Bush somehow created laws that allowed him to abuse this private citizen. It's pretty clear that's not the case. Miko makes the point there was no outrage over the protection of Clinton, so "what's changed since Clinton left office?" might be a better way of putting it. Sabre makes an interesting point that it was actually Clinton who came closer to taking rights away than Bush.

SS is short for Secret Service.

My point is what I've been saying since that swine got in the White House, this country is on a road to dictatorship, as long as Americans keep turning a blind eye to chimp boy and his thugs destroying the principles that make it what is.

Unlike most of the lemmings on this UBB your a smart man.....I know you can add 2+2 and come up with 4.

He's setting himself up as a king.

So wiezelle you really think that Bush will not leave office when his term as President is up...

Tell us exactly how he will do this?

And again Bush did not enact any federal laws about threatening the president, various laws like these have been in effect for some time - president Clinton even toughened them up in the case of the military.

Plus you forget the man was convicted by a jury in a court of law...

Relax and take a deep breath, Weazel ol' pal.  Every president since George Washington has been accused by someone of trying to create an "imperial presidency" (with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter...hmm...perhaps that's why they gave him that Nobel Prize).  I have great faith that the checks and balances laid out in our constitution will prevent such a thing from happening.  I don't think you'll find many who would see the event which inspired this thread as proof of such intent on the part of this President.  Now if we suddenly started to see 50-foot tall likenesses of President GWB springing up across the land (like the Saddam ones you see at every place the UN inspectors visit), then I'd admit the possiblity that the power was going to his head.  In the mean time, if our form of government survived the outrageous miss-use of power by WJC, it will certainly survive GWB.  I still prefer the latter over the former, and by a considerable margine.

The guy is another religious nutter. He proclaimed to be on a journey of discipleship during which he'd draw attention to Christianity through controversial acts.

Made by someone else during different circumstances it would indeed be a crude pun. Made by a religious nutter hours before Bush came to town, it's a crime.

Prison is a little too much though. Psychiatric help would be better.

Wasn't Xinhua the news agency which picked up the 'Onion' story about Congress threatening to move to Memphis unless they got a retractable dome with skyboxes?:D
