Subaru didn't win the championship in '02 but at least they had the biggest crash.

www.wrc.comp has lots of good info, but their videos are terrible quality.

I can't wait for 2003.. a few driver changes for next year..I wonder will Grunholm(sp) hold the title.. Or will Subie get their act together!

Solberg did a great job this past season, I can definately seeing him becoming one of the greats (finished second overall).

Mitsubishi is out for next season, good plan for them to revamp there racing direction.

Makidin (sp) provoding he doesnt have the stream of bad luck again next season should be a major player.

I am not a big fan of Colin but Citreon should do well with him at the helm.

Gronholm will take it next year also I believe he is a monster the guy never blinks.

I was suprised to find there weren't that many teams in the World Rally Championships.

Yep right now it's just Peugeot, Subaru, Ford, Hyundai, Skoda, Citroen. And really only 4 of those teams have a chance to win a rally.

Mitsubishi bailed out for '03.

SEAT quit after 2000.

Toyota left after 1999.

Kind of like F1, the budgets are driving out the less committed manufacturers.

I was suprised that Audi wasn't there... and that there weren't any high-end vehicles either.

AK I believe engine rules for rally is 2.0 liter engine and 300 HP Max, although torque can be much higher.

Not sure about the above information but i am sure I heard it on speed vision at some point.

Audi won the drivers' and manufacturers' championships twice each, but that was almost 20 years ago. Once everybody else figured out to use 4WD, they lost their competitive edge and left the sport.

WRC is a really big cash investment that doesn't get a heck of a lot of publicity because the races are run in rural areas and it's not as spectator-friendly as circuit racing. They have made great strides to change this with the excellent TV package, but that is a recent development.

By high end vehicles do you mean like exotic cars? I don't know why they don't compete. Rallying is the motorsport which most resembles actual road driving that customers do, so you'd think they'd want to show off in that arena. But I think the dirt turns off the beret and leather gloves set. Also I think in that first year, having their bellybutton kicked by a Hyundai or a Skoda might turn them off.

That's right, there is a mandated restrictor plate in the turbo inlet which keeps them at about 300 hp.
Nicky Grist claims that the Peugeots had a peak of 580 lb-ft of torque this year.

Yeah I agree with all of those statements.
