safe landings at enemy fields

think this should be done away with. give pilot/GVer
a ditch in enemy country, captured.  should not get safe landing
like u would if  u landed at your own bases.

As often as I use this, I'd hate to see it go, but I have to agree with you.

Make the fricking vulchers bring enough fuel to make it home if they can't capture the field.

I think it's a feature.  If the enemy can't stop you from landing at their field, then you obviously are kicking their butts, and deserve a reward.

You mean trips to enemy airfields aren't just one-way?

Yeah right Funked.... if you landed at an airfield occupied by Knights, your "reward" would be them mistaking you for a sheep.

The Rooks, OTOH, would fly you back to your home base where they would promptly be shot down and captured.

I dunno, I see it both ways...

If you want realism sorta stuff, bring that plane home to call the sortie a success.

But, if you have your engine blown out and have the gall to attempt a landing at an enemy field (especially with them buzzing around close by), then kudos if you can pull it off.

Then again, I've seen many times where guys are on vapor while waiting for the goon to arrive to snare the capture at a dead base.  Its happened to me, you sit there, thinking you'll witness the capture, then WHAMMO, their Acks re-up.  Doh!

Even though I have done this from time to time I never did understand how landing at an enemy airfield is considered a safe landing while if you miss the tarmac at your own airfield by an inch it is considered a ditch.

I say no landings at enemy airfield and a perimeter zone near friendly airfields so that if you are coming in all shot up you can make a safe landing that doesn’t necessarily have to be on the runway itself.  I mean they can tow aircraft even if they miss the runway by hundreds of feet.

I didn't have much of a problem with the idea of getting rid of safe landings at enemy fields...  until the Tiger came along.

Now if you have a perked vehicle and you do an awesome job but your country leaves you high and dry (or low in this case), you should still be able to land a successful sortie and not lose the perks.

Kudos to whels for stating something so damned obvious yet its been overlooked for too long.

Safe landing on nmy field should be equivalent to being captured.

I agree for aircraft, but I like this feature as a concession to remotely launched GVs who otherwise have no chance (short of driving for 2 hours) of getting a safe landing w/o actually capturing the field (if they could beat a retreat to a safe landing zone, that would be different).

Disagree 100% ...

GV should be exempt until some sort of solution allows a spawned GV to park it other than the enemy's town or field.

If you have an airfield under control to the degree that you can "safely" land ... then so be it.

I would rather see time spent changing the "ditch" one gets when you have acutally landed at a friendly base (most cases dead-stick or injured plane) but those damn wheels aren't quite touching the landing strip or runway ... that is MOST aggravating !!!

Sat in the tower once LMAO watching a guy in a P38 with one engine trying to get it onto the runway. Funniest thing I ever saw yet in AH, but it shouldn't have been necessary.

NP here!

Heck, I seldom live long enough to land anyway.

(I have fun while it lasts. Hmmm... now that I think about, sex is about the same way)
