Here he is doing a 1-G roll over Lake Washington during the Hydro-plane races while the Boeing big wigs were entertaining airline customers. He was NOT cleared to do this, but it sold alot of 707's soon after

Tex Johnson got into a lot of trouble for "showboating" with the 707 and almost got fired. I've been to the boat races before and there was nothing like the old boats when they ran Rolls-Merlins in them. It sounded like a P-51 race instead of a boat race. Now they all use turbines and they are boring as hell.

You don't need a sonic shock wave to get the effect...  You  can sometimes see contrails from Formula 1 car wings when the conditions are right,  The phenomenon happens frequently on planes with high G loading, even at relatively low speed.

Its  water seperating from the air due to pressure extreme differences. The effects differ of course due to aerodynamics etc... bla bla...

I've seen the whole thing on video.. not too impressive. it looked like more of a 3 mile long spiral to me.

Well, if you were in a passenger plane and the pilot decided to do this would you sit there and file your nails or would you be pumping adrenaline waiting to see if the wings would rip off? Quite frankly I would have shat myself, screamed like a woman and freaked out like a Luftwhiner over a missing pixel or two.

"BOOM, Sadam... get ready..."

But in reference to that 707, I've flown in one of those Flight Test Sim boxes... and let me tell you those, big ol planes are like my yank and bank plane at home............ SLOW.... so trying to roll one of these suckers would be a feat in itself....

Classic.

Put this one in "the book".
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!
