Good online store?
« on: December 21, 2002, 07:31:10 PM »
I'm in a bit of a pickle....

It's getting late for Christmas shopping (oops did I just say the C word?) and I have to order my brother something online (he's in LA, I aint).

I went to Amazon, but unless it's books or DVDs it doesn't look that good.

Are there any good online stores that you guys use? I'm thinking along the lines of goofy toys/electronics for grownups. Just... strange cool fun stuff.

Anyone know of anything?

I can usually find everything I need on Amazon.  They have way more stuff than books and DVD's.  Here's a list of stores:  http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/home/all-stores.htm
Edit - Hmm link busted.  Just click go to the main page and click on "see more stores".

If you are a cheap bastich like me, get him some clothes.  :)
They have a deal right now in the apparel store where you get a $30 credit if you spend $50 in the apparel store.

For stuff I can't find there, I use shopping.yahoo.com a fair amount.  You can look up an item and it will show prices for all stores that stock it.  They also have a store rating system that seems to be pretty reliable.

Crutchfield has stuff, mostly audio and home theater stuff

Tower Hobbies and Nikko have R/C stuff,

lots of others on the Yahoo, business, shopping, search...

But I would search for vineyards and wineries, and get him a case of wine.

;)
