Nice ideas moose. The repair in the hangar would be cool. Maybe have them sit there for 1.5 minutes for that?

Oh dear geezus.... why not just throw in some "health", "invincibility", "quad damage" and "armor power ups" that float around the sky and if you're lucky enough to fly through one you get it.......

No thanks, you're pushing the insta-action quake type envelope a little bit too much right there.

Well, I have a suggestion... that the damage model for collisions with stationary objects (er ground in this case, but it might include structures) ought to go back to the old one we use to have...

the problem with ditchs has already been solved, it would be so nice to skid and flop about a bit before you exploded after smacking the ground

Alex .... I'll take "no brainers" for 100.

"This AHBB poster claimed that Cessna aircraft are the perfect bumper car and going 'four wheelin' in them doesn't do all that much damage."

(Arlo presses buzzer first)

"Arlo?"

Who is G10potato?

""Correct for a hundred. Still your category."

Alex, I'll take "Juvenile Deliquents" for 200. Errr .... I mean, same category for 200.

;o)

I fail to see how your plane being repaired in a hanger by a 'ground crew' is Quakish. I think it'd be a feature some people use, and there doesn't seem to be any way to *abuse* it. However, I am open minded so I'm all ears.

Hitech, any opinions on this idea?

ps - i think that this would mean that drex would probably rack up 30 kill sorties

Let it hit the shed and survive, then inexplicably snap in a later dogfight pulling a high-g turn.

Yes, second thought, having the aircraft repaired in the hangar is very far-fetched. Everybody who is somebody knows aircraft are repaired in automotive repair shops

Alright, if we are going to have planes repaired in hangars too, lets take it a step further.

Blatantly Obvious Information Alert:
A sortie is taking off and landing. Several sorties are taking off, landing, repeat.

So, lets start chalking up sorties each time you come to a complete stop on the ground.

Then I'm all for a repair hangar.... lets see how many use it then.

I thought the repair/rearm idea was the end of that... but guess not.

If we are going to keep with the "I want to keep the same plane so I can continue my streak" idea, then we best start chalking up sorties each time you land and take off again.

Oh btw...

to add a little relavent information to this thread, a friend and I were rolling his 172 back into the hanger a year or so ago...and in order to get the nose wheel over the hanger door rails, we had to push it rather hard. In the process we were trying to manuver the tail back towards a pair of Beechcraft Barons.

Unfortunately the right elevator hit one of the Baron's props (AND THIS WAS BARELY MOVING!) and cracked the plastic corner/joint and bent the end of the right  elevator before we could stop it (just a slight bounce really).

The panel had to be replaced. Granted a WWII fighter is *slightly* tougher, even small defencientcies in the aerodynamic surfaces can cause major problems.

But honesty, how do you hit a pole?
Our incendent was clearly that of lazy Baron pilots who didn't move their planes fully back into the hanger before latching the parking brake

This land and rearm and it it still a single sortie cracks me up.  If I'm not mistaken as soon as you land/taxi and and rearm, then take off isn't that sortie 2?

I know after reading many books where pilots killed 5-10 AC in 1 day they flew multiple sorties, many times just to rearm and refuel.  But it was counted as a sortie after each landing.  What we have here is a way to pad stats and thats it.
