I Need an Adjustment...
« on: December 23, 2002, 08:24:25 AM »
I had to reinstall the game recently, after replacing a hard drive, and now I have this problem.  When flying low, 1000 feet or under, my frame rates are around 15 FPS and the terrain looks "grainy".  Above 1000 feet or so, everthing smoothes out (no more graininess) and FPS jumps to 45.  It seems that there's a setting in the AH software that may help with this but I don't recall now.  Any suggestions?  I'm not running the best system around, but it used to run acceptably.

P-III 600
40gb Hard Drive
192mb RAM
nvidia 8mb video

Thanks.

I've noticed the same thing.

When I get low ( < 1000' AGL) over any terrain or water, my frames bog down into mid-20's.

I get 95-100 flying up higher with no action.

This all happened since 1.11 too. Was there some terrain texture change in the new version?

Thanks, it was indeed ground clutter.  CNTL C (toggle ground clutter) cleared it right up.  Thanks again.
