Still waiting for the price of BF1942 to drop.  Will eventually give that a try.

Seems the Game of the Year award for 2003 should be taken for what its worth.  Maybe I'm just getting old, but very little of what I saw this year was impressive.

I enjoy America's Army too but for the overall fun factor I found UT 2003 with it's various game types a little more entertaining.

Revvin

The jump in eye candy is great, but I still find the gameplay and weapons in the orig. UT to be superior to the 2003 version.

I'll try 1942 when the price drops, but I'm really waiting for Half Life 2 and Doom 3.

Thought what the hell... reinstalled BF1942 last week....

1.  Hmm says can't find file on the CD....

Getting peed off, tried cleaning CD, rebooting, etc still no go...
Finally said fk it and copied CD's to my HDD, now we're away.
  (installed latest patch)

For the first game or two, the game works fine.

hmm CTDS's.....

no prob I just start again...

Please insert correct CD and press OK   WTF??

Now my cdrom is able to read NO CD's whatsoever... worked fine before using the BF1942 CD....  takes a re-boot to get the cdrom working again.

Oh yeah did I mention I lost my temper?

Dug up a no-cd patch but I can only play the original game, and not mods with it...  (did only try the pirates mod)

Game of the year??   not a friggen chance

Damn, those are a lot of buzzwords, CLEAR indication that a game that hasnt even been released will be the best game of the year!

Dude, if we are gonna nominate games that are still under wraps, have you heard about a little monster called HALF LIFE 2?

Yep all those guys can't possibly know what they talking about and the screenshots and the website are like an amateurs half hour!!

Also the other two mega hits they had really sucked all over the world so you're probably right this is going to be a pitiful game.

Ok, let me try to inject some logic on you.

Can you answer me how can a game be the game of the year if you cant go to the store and buy it?

How can you know a product is the most influential, standard setting, cleanest best programed bug free game of the year if you have only seen screenshots and promotional quotes?

Have you followed the gaming industry? do you remember Duke Nukem Forever? Daikatana? Team Fortress 2? Gunship!? Sabre Ace? WWIIOnline? Battlecruiser 3000? 'Black and White' alone had ten times more pre-release hype than your pick. They even said it was going to change gaming forever.

I hope Road to Rome will be an awesome game. I'm all for good games. But how subjective can you be to compare vaporware to games you can buy and test right now? games people have been enjoying for the better part of the year?

How much enjoyment had you had playing 'Rome - Total War' during 2003? was it bug free? how was the multiplayer? was the combat balanced?

But if you still disagree, then I'd like to also nominate Half Life 2, Deus Ex 2, Doom 3 and Homeworld 2.
All of them played with a Bitboys Oi video card.

BTW Drunky, the ground war in BF1942 is infinitely more fun than ww2ol.

At least it was when I first got the game and it worked fine.

I am hoping its just an accumulation of 18 months of junk in XP thats causing most of my probs...  (likely not though)

Blah blah blah blah blah blah........I don't care what your opinion is, why on earth do you care what mine is?

Why on earth do you spend so much time and effort over what to me was a meaningless 1 line throway - I have two other of their games - they're pretty amazing - I thought maybe some other people might like to hear about RTW if they haven't already.

Case closed.

Thank you SKurj :)

I am looking forward to having BF1942 now especially with all the mods I have heard about.  I think I'll go look for it on eBay and see what I can find.

Also, do you have much problems with XP?  I'm about to updrade from 98 to it.
