Has anyone ever considered a Map....
« on: December 16, 2002, 09:56:29 AM »
Here's a strange thought. I'm new to CT, so please forgive my ignorance.

Has anyone ever considered making a map of the USA, and fighting the Civil War all over again? This time, in the era of WWII?

It may sound silly but think about it. We'd use all American Planes, North Vs. South.

Is this against the CT rules? DO all battles there have to be historical, or can they simply be Fantasy?

there are the infrequent "what if" scenarios, but they're more the exception than any regular shwoing.

the most fun one i saw was last 45/46 when russkies and yanks/brits were fighting over Japan (pangea map) - it used the "perk" planes spit14, temp, f4u-4, me262, la7, ponys and made for some good action that allowed the people who showed up to see how the perk planes can handle themselves in a more aggressive environment.

temp - rules all, even in tnb vs la7.
f4u-4 - does sokay.
spit14 - shown to be the weakest of the perkies (other than the ta152 maybe)
me262 - does ok if flown borin... err properly.. can hold it's own in some tnb situations.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

As Shane says, we occassionally run what-if set ups, but only infrequently.  If someone came up with a good map and skinned planes (Confed battle flags on P-40's, oh my...what would the politically correct police say?), I'd be willing to put it up for a week.  Sounds like you've been reading that series by Harry Turtledove, eh?

I have thought of that MUCKMAW,  would like to see a
North American map in the rotation, although the fleets
would be a bit hard to work in.  have to makethe rivers bigger
or something.

We could do this but all guns would have to be muzzle loaders.  Fire 1 shot, land re-arm, re-up.  :)
