I hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve. After spending the evening with my wife I checked into the MA to see what targets looked good. Nomde, 6GUNS, Leftfoot, and myself hooked up for a bunch of Air-to-Air work and JABO runs.
We formed up and headed into A42 to intercept a Hi-alt B-17 raid. There were at least 4 groups in a very loose formation. They were escorted by a couple P51s, Spits, 109s, and even an F4U that almost sent me home early. All manner of Red Rook flying critters were with them. All of a sudden, the 56th was split up and fighting for our lives just above the thick cloud layer above A42.
We wanted the bombers of course, as they were just a few thousand yards away but we had to evade or kill the escorts. The clouds turned out to be a blessing (for me anyway) as I could dart in and out of them and quickly change course. I would pop up again and reacquire the buffs. I managed two bomber kills and heard the others dogfighting, evading, or closing on bombers. Eventually we all found ourselves together again below the cloud layer fending of the rest of the escorts. 6GUNS and Nomde were both phenominal in the jug this night. Here's a shot of 6GUNS taken a SPLIT SECOND before the LA-7 explodes outright.
I did OK with 2 bomber kills and 2 assists, but the adrenalin flowing in those critcal minutes is awesome! 6GUNS had lots of great kills all night, but Nomde by far had the best night. I don't know how many hours we flew, but he landed nearly
every kill ! I did pretty well, but still learning to handle the jug. The P-47 was an absolute pig in Air Warrior and nobody ever flew it, but here you have more than a fighting chance if you fly it right. Unfortunately that's not as often as I'd like.

I even got shot down by Shane
. Never saw an LA-7 turn like that.
However I did get AckAck in his shiny P-38 at the top of his loop, and boy those feel good.
This was the best flight by far since I began my account earlier this month. You simply cannot beat the squad experience!
Earlier this month in the Pizza map. The jug is a great aircraft that reveals its secrets to you with time!
