Well of course he is right. He is a Yorkshireman. And you should never ignore the advice of a Yorkshireman. That might sound funny at the first reading, but there are very few stupid Yorkshiremen.
We’ve allowed the silly bickering between our various nations to go on for too long, and to sink to ridiculous levels. The only thing I would say is that I suspect most BBS posters do not carry BBS antipathy into our daily lives. I think it’s natural, in any debating forum, whether that be a BBS or the House of Commons or a Middle East Peace Conference, for feelings to run high and for people to poke eachother with sharp objects. There’s a time to stop bickering, and that time has arrived. Enough already! The BBS has become overheated, and while I accept my share of responsibility for that, I didn’t do it alone.
Within a few days or even fewer weeks, this Iraq war is going to flare up. The US and its staunchest ally in its stance on the issue, the UK, will soon be engaged side by side in the Iraqi conflict. I don’t want to voice the rights and wrongs on the issue for fear of triggering further BBS hostility. Time to stop posting inflammatory posts. I will if you will. Oh bugger it, I will even if you won’t. I don’t want to get into a debate about this – accept it as read.
