Interesting Australian powerplant plans
« on: January 05, 2003, 04:45:01 AM »
The Australians are planning on building a one kilometer tall solar tower in New South Wales to generate power.  They claim it will cost 560 million dollars (US) and generate enough power for 200,000 homes.

Here is the link: BBC News: Australia plans world's tallest tower

What do you guys think?

Good idea or bad idea?

That'll be a sight to see!  Sounds like an interesting idea, it'll be nice to find out how it works in practice.

Go for it

I'm currently frustrated at the fact a wind-farm is having trouble getting approved for this area. Supposedly it'll be too 'ugly' for the Cape. I dunno. I guess I think people gotta stop thinking about preserving the past and try to figure out how to preserve our future.

sounds cool.  I like that much better than the 'solar electric panals' type of power plant.  this type would mean work for me. :D

as it is those damn solar electrics are the only way you can make electricity without me making a living off it.

It'd be much simpler and more efficient to simply harvest methane off all the roadkill the pollies spew around the place.
