Least spikey joystick available... ?

I've heard the MS stuff does'nt use pots and is realitively spike free.  Yes?  No?

Have you ever had a joystick that didn't have a spiking issue?  (If so, what JS?)

Thanks,

eskimo

i use the ms stick, no spiking. you can get a bit of nose bounce, but overall great stick. Have used ms sticks since 98 (49 bucks for the non-ffb version). Overall the best cost-effective solution. I am trying out a new saitek x45, but the rudder is on ur fingertips, so i think i will have to add pedals to like that stick more than my sidewinder.

MS Precision pro 1 here. Optical 'pots' been using it for over 2 years now and never witnessed even a single spike.

I still keep all the sliders to the minimum and the line stays flat.

Just the fact that it's USB cuts down or eliminates on spiking?
They use the same pots (for CH at least).
Wonder why, and how much of a difference?

Anyone else see the same thing as Eagler?

USB has obviously nothing to do with fixing pot related spiking.

MS gear uses totally different technology and therefore has superior performance.

Yep the MS sticks don't spike.

Most spiking on gameport sticks is not actually due to the pots.  It's due to interference.  The analog signal is subject to noise when travelling along the long cord from the pot to the gameport.  And most gameports are lousy analog/digital computers.  USB sticks have the converters inside the stick so they send a nice digital signal (which is not affected much by interference) to the PC.  And there is no crappy gameport A/D converter to deal with once you get to the PC.
