Agh, politicians.
« on: January 07, 2003, 07:09:28 AM »
I get really disgusted when I hear yet another power hungry control freak go off and say

"I only wish to serve my country".

As if their act is truly altruistic, a sacrifice for the greater good of society and mankind. Who do they believe will buy their platitudes and direct or indirect lies? Some must do just that though.

Nay, these fellows are the same kind of people as the old royalty during feudalism. They seek the exact same thing - power to control the lives of other people. Their way of achieving it has changed, but one is best off remembering that the motivation, drive and goal of such an individual is not much different than the selfish brutal rulers of feudal Europe.

Any person seeking such power should not be allowed to hold it.

Ugh, I actually have a bad taste in my mouth from this. It's revolting.

StSanta: Any person seeking such power should not be allowed to hold it.

Respectfully, that's BS. Such power should not exist, period. The state should be separate from religion, economy and social engineering. It's only task should be guaranteeing people's rights, not pursuing goals - that activity is better left to people. Then there will be no power to abuse and necessarily attract scoundrels.

Well, if no person would be allowed to hold it, then it wouldn't exist. So semantically, I can argue my way outta it so it agrees with your little text (which I agree with) :D.

But you're right.

I'm just very, very weary and tired of these power hungry people. I see their faces in front of me - that true squeak, 55 years who thinks she knows how the world should be and does all within her power to force othes to comply. The fat man with his patronizing platitudes and well watered lies. All the meaningless acting, a charade before a people too ignorant or complacement to either understand or do something about it.

Ugh. I'm growing old :(
