HT & Pyro, I just had an idea float through my brain. Or was it a fart? Anyway, you guys are spending 1300 bucks on the "Championship Shootout" thingie right? Why don't you have a contest for the top three MA terrain submissions?

Just about every terrain in the MA rotation now has been there for like two years now. AKdesert is the newest and it's already worn out its welcome with many people. To me, having talented art guys compete to see who can submit the best terrains possible would be a better use of money (HTC is your business and you guys have always known what you're doing, not trying to act like I know more than you about your business, just suggesting:))

I'm just sooo sick of seeing the old maps like NDisles. Knowing every nook and cranny of every terrain gets old.

Besides, those dudes in the top fifteen of the shootout prolly need some sleep. You guys are contributing to wrecked lives and busted up marriages by rewarding obsessive gameplay.;)

If HTC doesn't want to contribute the prize money, the FDB's said they'd be happy to.

Yeah, pretty good idea.

The MA terrains are a definate bore this far along in AH developement (pizza is ok but just too damned circular all other traits aside).  The terrains that flow through the CT are a big bonus (along with the allied-axis plane sets).  The terrain editor is avaliable and constantly updated, the terrains used in the CT are constantly evolving and improving yet in the MA, general stagnation.

Why is this?

HTC's Championship Shootout is like Bush's tax cut (if you believe the dems and media) - it is only for the top 1%

I say do the democrat version and give the top 1300 a one dollar price break on their next months sub :)

Not too bad an analogy there eagler. :) Only the obsessive freakazoids benefit from the shootout, whereas EVERY single player would benefit from new MA terrains. I oughta ba a politician.

Another good prize possibility would be ability of the winners to vote on next plane put into game (perhpas from a list supplied by HTC).

Terrain creation takes a lot of communication between HT and the people creating the terrain.

Just an observation, but I don't believe HT wants to spend every day of a month communicating with 100+ people to get the terrain's done properly for the MA.

Not saying it isn't a good idea, it is... but I dunno if it's a feasible one.

He must be comunicating something that can be mostly itemized though..
IE some good guidelines. The terrains must meet those guid lines..and then spend the extra finish effort on the top ones..
Yes the guidlines take some time to spell check...but worth the effort I think.

Exactly. So HTC picks the top 2-3 submissions that they'd prefer to refine into feasible maps. Good idea Hblair.
