Movies are great to collect and watch, and after Wally World had a $4.99 bin sale I got quite a few cool additions like “Man With 2 Brains, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Exorcist III, Billy Jack etc…
Still, aside from the classics, for sure replay value, concert DVD’s are the best. Here’s some I have.
James Taylor Live- At the Beacon Theater
Aerosmith- The Making of Pump
Sepultura- Chaos DVD
Journey- 2001
Ozzy Osbourne- Live at Budokan
Dokken- Live From The Sun
Fleetwood Mac- The Dance
Eagles- Hell Freezes Over
Pantera- 3 Vulgar Videos From Hell
Ozzy Osbourne- Don’t Blame Me: The Tales of Ozzy
G3 Live In Concert- Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson/Steve Via
The Who- Live at the Royal Albert Hall
Jethro Tull- Living With the Past
Rush- Chonicals
AC/DC- Stiff Upper Lip Live
Several DVD’s are “out” through trading or leaving them at friends houses, namely the Queensryche and Iron Maiden ones I forget their actual titles, but given the limited supply available for purchase, that’s about what I found worth getting.
I find they all have replay value obviously. They are like good CD’s come to life which of course you listen too time and time again, but some are way better than others and maybe someone here might want to get the best of them.
AC/DC Stiff Upper Lip live is just amazing. Buy it. The Pantera Video, equally as amazing but be warned, it promotes drinking in earnest. It's what the PMRC had in mind. The Sepultura dvd is really cool but may be beyond the tastes of most folks here. The Rush DVD is cool, but the CD’s will suffice for most casual fans. Jethro Tull is a real hidden find, and “Roots to Branches” just completely changed whatever I thought about the band. They are so good, and this DVD opened my eyes.
“The Who” DVD has it’s points but was as disappointing as it was long, Journey 2001 had the Fat Gay Bastards laughing at me, but it’s pretty good. Ozzy is always good, and Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles make a good bigscreen and stereo system shine, if not get a bit limp. Still worth having.
G3? Jezus, if you ever bought a hondo geetar and played “smoke on the water”, just bow in awe.
Carry on.
