When I logged into the Main Arena before work this morning a box comes up with something like this:

"The ranker will be down for the next day or 2 while we run some test"

Ok, I guess the fact that I haven't logged on since Tuesday night migh be the reason for my lack of info.

The manual reset that HT preformed on the 8th about 19:00 est. the message was that rank would be disabled for a couple of days.

My guess is they are experimenting with changing how the ranking works.

I hope they adjust how hit% works so the Milk running LANC pilots can no longer get 1200% hit ratios.

I hope they adjust scores so you loose a major portion of score gained if you get shot down, ditch, bail, etc.

As far as I am concerned, AH scoring is way too easy to game and manipulate. It was quite amusing to see the top ranked players with fighter and attack hit% well over 30% during the first couple days of tour 36, yet they still had very few kills.

Midnight its not about how many kills at least not beyond the kills per sortie count. Killing goons give more points then any other type which is why guys like http can have more points in the fighter category and still be the lowest rank in all the other slots of the fighter category. Lancs no longer have the sole privilege in bombing hit percentage now that we have the stuka. My hit percentage with the stuka for instance was at 1900% before I went cv hunting. There is nothing wrong with that as a means of measuring accuracy and I doubt thats what ht is looking at. I sincerely believe the ranking system was causing the server to bog down as every pilots score was parsed and sorted and that the work ht is doing will fix that. As far as gunnery in fighters well I always start off higher then I finish. This tour I began at 98.3% which finally settled at 78% but then dropped like a stone with the first server problems and the warp we had on akdessert. So dont expect the hit percentages to come down as they will most likely go up.

I think they are trying to see if the score system affects performance in the arena's.  I do not believe that they are re-working the scoring system.

They keep score? Really? Why?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

We have a problem where the mysql server goes totaly bonkers on ocasion, and that has a major effect on text & hit lags on the server. Just trying to isolate if the ranker is effecting things.

No score will be lost durring this test, is just your ranks which are normal updated once an hour will not be updated until we turn the ranker back on.
