the basic reason i thought this was a good idea was the distribution of machines on a typical battle field.
In a real battlefield generally there are hundreds of tanks and mechanised infantry with air battles above or attacks by squadron strength jabo units(at least in a lot of the battles im reading about recently including North africa). In AH we have hundreds of aircraft and very few tanks.
What a formation of tanks would do is make the game appear a little more like a typical battle.Just like single bombers was a very rare occourance so indeed were single tanks. One lone tank commander wouldnt be likely to attack anything like an airfield on his own.So by giving the player 3 vehicles, 2 or 3 players with formations would closer resemble a typical tank platoon.(or at least 9 instead of 3 tanks would present a better looking and more realistic attack)
As for drones exploding, like i suggested, couldnt the drones pass through objects? I know ive seen drone bombers pass over mountains on take off where, if they were player controlled, they would have crashed.Obviously HTC has some way of making them survive to stop us losing them on takeoff into a hill.
Basically after reading a book recently on tank battles, I noticed the numbers in a single thrust or attack on bases/airfields were much higher than id typically see in AH.In AH you can be lucky if you see 4 or 5 let alone anthing in the tens or hundreds. And in AH there are far more aircraft than you would be likely to see in any one place over a battlefield(generally speaking of course). The formations could go some way to readdress this imballance.AND it would give jabo fans plenty of moving targets.
I suppose its cosmetic really but i think shelling bases could be much more fun like this, also panzer to panzer fights could last a little longer for the individual who isnt very good at shooting and often dies quickly.Like me

maxtor you could be right , it might not be as good as it sounds but maybe it could be tested out in another arena to see if it works?
