Maned Guns and dispertion, Tracers? Again
« on: January 12, 2003, 07:20:31 PM »
HTC, is this a bug, oversight or intended feature?

The field guns and turret/hand held guns have no dispertion and/or vibration.

Targets cant see tracers even when the field gunner has them enabled and can see them.

I would think the game/sim would be better with these things enabled which currently does not appear to be the case.

Thank you, thank you vera much.

Manned acks don't have dispersion because they're designed to be accurate and repeatable at range, the same way the main gun on an Ostwind is.

The hull, coaxial, and pintle machine guns on tanks all have dispersion when I'm firing them -- what makes you special?

If I wanted to complain about something, I'd complain about intangible tanks -- enemy tanks at a range of about 350-400 yards judging from the size of the vehicle in my scope, but which I lobbed shots at with indicated ranges of from 300-1200 yards, only to watch my AP round pass through the enemy tank and crater behind it.

Sorry to ruin your party but both manable ack guns and Ostwind guns do have dispersion! Truth is that your sights do not shake while shooting but the rounds do not land on single spot....

I still remember the times when Osty did not have dispersion pattern built in... man... Osties were the deadliest meaniest things in AH those days... Fortunately it is no longer truth...

But the absence of tracers for manable acks is pretty bad for sure. Plus the LVT tracer bug where you see tracers of LVT MG fire but you see it coming in 90 degree angle instead of where is the gun pointing to...

btw, is it just me, or do LVTA4s freak out when they aim , i think, the 50 cal pintle gun?

osties? humm... not from my point of view... But still remember the time when they were a nightmare. After the dispersion pattern for them was introduced the situation improved greatly and it improved once again when the AP part of their rounds was removed.

Sure, skilled osty dweeb :D can still take out an army of average player-piloted planes ;) But i think it is the same as with A-2-A combat...

making it short: it is the pilot not the plane/GV

but for sure no tracers for manable ack is annoying...

Heres what I see:

In an Osti, I find a tank about 1000 yrds out and start shooting.
I watch as the rounds land ALL OVER the target area.  Dispertion.

I man a field ack find a tank at 1000 yrds and once Ive got the little hit sprites going, I just hold down the trigger and watch EVERY ROUND land on exactly the same spot.  No Dispertion.

Now the Osti used to be like that then they gave its main gun dispertion.  Now what say you?

Also, when an Osti starts firing at you you SEE the tracers, unless the guy has them turned off which most dont.  When a field gun shoots at you you NEVER know it until you start HEARING the shots hit you.  Now, the guy shooting the damned field gun has his tracers on and gets to use them to sight in yet the poor bozo getting shot at has no clue.  Thats not cool.

Hand held and turret guns, well Ill go back and double check, but I dont believe they have dispertion.  Ok. but they dont shake, correct?  Why should some guns make a shake on some vehicles and some dont.  Things is.....guns generally have recoil.

Recoil and dispertion FOR ALL!  Lets do it!

: Yes, there is indeed dispertion on the hand held GV guns
and the hand held/turret guns but there is no associated shake.
This would be a nice addition.  Also, doesnt appear to be head bob in the GVs and when joined an anothers plane (or GV of course), this would also be nice.l
