... my good old Saitek Cyborg has begun to spike like hell, so I'm gonna have to have him replaced

Any tips on what Stick to get ? I'm NOT going for a Cougar, just a good, durable twistystick.

My first MS sidewinder 3dpro lasted 5 years, was still flyable, but sloppy in center.
I got 3 + still counting on Prec Pro, its plugged into the wifes computer, not as fond of its button layout. So I upgaded 6 months ago.

On my 3rd MS Prec 2 usb in 6 months. (Not a clue why either) But all were covered under extended warrenty.

Still I have to recomend for a decent all in one twisty go with the MS sidewinder.

Its around 47$ US .

Treat it gently and it will last for years.

When my 400 yr old MSPP stick gets sloppy (once or twice a year), I unscrew the bottom (some screws are hidden under the rubber feet-replace those several yrs ago), and tighten the 4 screws that hold the circuit board down and she's good as new. Why don't I use that lock screw goo and be done with it? I'm afraid w/o the ability to get looose every now & agin, something I won't be able to fix might die. It's the older MSPP . I tried the Saitex X45 and it drove me crazy. I love this olde stick. Good luck

One of the few things I liked about the X45 (vs. the twisty stick).

The X45 is hardly durable.  So far it's a nice stick, but everyone I talked to who had it for a while said to get any kind of in-store replacement, because the hats do break.  Though mine still work.

The most durable, while still inexpensive, joystick I've found is the thrustmaster afterburner.  It's made of cheap looking plastic, but is unbelievably solid.  Mine lasted through some 3000-4000 hours of hard use before finally starting to go.   It also offers the option to use a rocker on the throttle(like the x45, only much more comfortable to use) or the twist on the joystick(which locks, solidly, and without any wobble).

The great thing I noticed about it is that, the springs on the movement remained crisp.  After alll that use, it still centers perfectly, even the twist is nice and crisp still.  My cyborg which was only used for a few hundred hours barely centered anymore.  Even my X45 after only a couple months is showing signs of it.
