Cool MT, I've actually not made it to that particular night spot, what do they serve? [I would assume Italian or some such.]

There is a really good variety of food served in the Chicago area. Some of the bigger places on the Gold Coast do a great job (Gibson's Steakhouse) for example, have great food and great $$$. But then there are places like The Half Shell in a downstairs tavern, with a seating capacity of about 30 where you can get two pounds of great Crab Legs (fresh) for $22. You have to arrive early to avoid the wait. And they don't take American Express (or Visa, MC or Discover:) -- Cash only) Many great ethich eateries too. Have to keep up that Midwest physique :)

Italian of course.  Taylor street is the old Italian neighborhood near the loop. We drove around (visiting my Uncle who is 100% Italian) and the whole area is in the process of gentrification. Very nicely refurbished brownstones.

Trefano's has been around for decades IIRC and is a rough looking storefront restaurant with food to die for.

I love visiting Chicago, cold as heck though!

It was 8 degrees when I left Sunday morning, 80 when I got home... aaaaaaaaahhhhhh.

:)

I'll have to check it out. I went local for Italian when I lived on the N. Side at a place on Clark called La Donnas that was fantastic and inexpensive. Camines on the Gold Coast is also good but overpriced (well, not if you like spending money to impress that special gold digger) :) In fact, the Gold Coast/Rush Street area is a bit too much like that whole Manhattan, Sex in the City attitude for my tastes.

It was just 50 deg. like three days ago. Had a frozen turkey in the garage that actually thawed out! In January! It's back down to cold as hell again though, just about in time for your visit. You should let me know next time you're in the city. It would be a good excuse for me to drag my bellybutton out of the suburbs.
