a few things .. besides the guys that do that are INF******sane death mongers....

he looked out of control at LEAST 10 times.

there were people standing at the EDGE of a cliff trying to get a pic of him going by @ 100mph and out of coutrol. (they need to be nominated for a Darwin award)

there was a woman who  leaned over into the course to get a pic... while not on the edge or a cliff she was right around a blind corner.

thoes that do this are INF******sane (stated again for the pure fact it's true) :D

oh well my 2¢

Whats cool, is the way he is driving with one hand on the wheel, and one blocking the sun.

That on Pikes Peak.

JB73 - I haven't seen the vid clip and it may look out of control, but those guys know EXACTLY what they are doing. Occasionally they it get it wrong like any racing driver, but their skill is incredible.

Although everyone has the same reaction times, rally drivers have a very specialised brain 'map' which allows them to push the boundaries further than most of us. Same goes with other high speed, dangerous sports.

It's a good sport to watch - seen the British rally a couple of times, got rained on both times and was soaked. The crowd is warned of approaching cars by marshalls with whistles, and usually there is no crowd allowed where the car could run-off.
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

Whats really interesting is to see different drivers having so different driving techniques when watching film taken with inside camera.
There were one film where (IIRC) Delecour and Kankkunen were driving same part of rally: It looked like Delecour was having extra pair of hands in the cockpit while Kankkunen looked like he was driving to the church in sunday morning; Left hand on the steering wheel and right hand on the shifter.
His moves were very calm and it looked like that part of film was played at slow motion when compared to Delecours show.
Anyway Kankkunen was much faster in that race (like almost every race at that time) so guess you don't have to look fast to be fastest :)
