Anyone notice...
« on: January 14, 2003, 09:22:43 AM »
Last few days I've found that hits may take several seconds (5-10) to register on me.

Example, bandit on my six, tracers zipping by but not registering as hits, someone hits him, he explodes. Few seconds later I get several hits and go down in flames. I get a "you have crashed" message.

Even when I've seen bad warping (poor connection) I never saw this. Something new?

Had something similar last night,
My La7 against 109, at A2...headon merge, I dove underneath the 109 and turned to avoid the headon, 109 passed overhead, I pulled up to come up behind the 109 when I heard pings and my engine died.  Never saw any flashes or tracers, and I know he had tracers because he came back and got me while I was ditching.

Also see some delay on my hits lately,...Fired on a P51 at about D200 with my La7, several hits and nothing,  then wing falls off and he went down.

Apparently (and I have no reason to doubt otherwise) akak took off my wing (in LA7) and I continued to fly as normal and took down odege in his P47.

However, on my FE odege was dead way before akak joined the fight, this was today the 14th

Ping obviously influences "damage lag", as the server knows you've been hit ms before you do.

It seems to be connected to server load also, when many ppl are on the damage lag seems to increase.

A slight damage lag (less than a second) has always been the norm for me. Longer lag also occurs occasionally, when the server has it's hands full, I guess.

Haven't had this happen (yet) but did experience for the first time last night the losing of squad vox Tx. Rx worked as well as all features of room channel but could never get squad Tx working. It happened to nopoop the other night.

It's very disheartening not to apologize profusely when Lazs yells at me for going over 3K in a dogfight.

That's what some in my squad said. However, there's no warping and I see the tracers on cue. Seeing the tracers in what seems to be real time would seem to indicate that there is a good connection between me and the bandit. It's that they don't register for several seconds that I'm referring to.

FWIW, I rarely have greater than 30ms ping times or warping.

It doesn't happen all the time. I never noticed this prior to a few days ago. I believe HiTech is currently working on the net code. Just thought I'd mention this to both see if it is a common problem and identify it to HiTech if it is.
