Can anyone explain hit percentage ?
« on: January 14, 2003, 04:43:11 AM »
These stats are pretty much self explanatory. However, Why does my hit percentage show 0 %.

I may be wrong, but surely the process of accumulating points would point to having hit something during that process.

Vehicle/Boat (Rank),  vs. Objects

Damage / Deaths + 1   8594.6849 (135)
Damage / Sorties          6207.27243 (80)
Hit percentage              0 % (2924)
Points                           111730.90367 (309)
Field Captures              0 (2924)

vehicle boat score is made up of 10 categories

Air Categories

Kills per Death
Kills per Sortie
Kills per Time
Hit percentage
Air points

Ground Categories

Damage per Death
Damage per Sortie
Bombing percentage
Ground points
Field captures

on the score page the air categories will be the top 5 and say vrs enemy

the bottom 5 will be vrs objects

For gvs and boats to get a hit % vrs objects you need to either hit a ship with torps from a pt boat or hit something with your rockets from a pt boat. This is the only way.

on most of the maps theres an area or 2 where you can get pt boat close enough to put your rockets into something.

any hit will up your percentage and your gv rank will go up as well since most folks will end the tour with a 0 in this category. Some of the more experienced score potatos know this and it helps umm get a higher rank then the unwashed masses.

Either by torpedo's or hitting objects with rockets from PTboats will give you a rating in this category.

No it's not.  Take an LVT4 and use the 75mm howitzer to take out all the fuel, ammo and barracks out and then hit the hangers.  You can do the same with a Tiger I or a Panzer.  Even an Ostie can register hits.

I just had to try, so I feigned an illness and went home for an hour to test.

Took a PT boat to a field, hit a hangar with a rocket, then hit it with a 40mm, quit and then checked scores, result 49 % hit percentage.

nope.  only hitting stuff with PT ord works for the dmg vs objects category.

you are wrong akak, i told you were wrong the last time you said the very same thing.

I dont play ah but I asked to check it last time you said that in case something had changed and guess what? you were wrong.

Now someone can go test it again, but from reading wipass' last post seems to confirm what the rest of us have said.

Someone test it and see.

I've never used a PT Boat for anything other than as a shore-line AAA platform.  Have never hit anything with the rockets or torpedos (don't know how to aim them so I never use them).  In Tour 35, I was taking LVT4s and Tigers to bases and destroying them and for the first time my hit % vs. objects was raised to 12% afterwards.

Wotan and shane are correct.  I have destoryed many things at enemy fields, towns, and even factories in GV's of all descriptions.  I have not however upped in a PT boat.   You will note my Damage/Object category is still 0%  (not had a chance to get round to it).

As I posted in a thread LONG since past:
Quote

Ill tell you exactly how to do it. On the pizza map you can float a pt boat up to a port and fire rockets at an sb without fear of getting shot if your careful. Otherwise on mindanao you can float up close to the city and shoot that.

From the skippers position swing the tube doors out. Move to the number four or number five position and without turning the gun elevate and get your range by firing until you get a hit. Immediately move to number seven position and fire a couple of rockets. If you are lucky you will destroy more then one building and your hit percentage will climb above one-hundred percent.

However the gun positions have been modified so that ranging is no longer possible from one gun to the next.
