Want to fight for the bad guys for a change?

Quote

...“Under Ash” is a computer game comprising a number of levels. At the start, the hero of the game, Ahmed, must reach the al-Aqsa Mosque while evading the bullets of Israeli settlers; at a further stage he helps victims of the Israeli gunfire to escape from the Temple Mount; he snatches a weapon from one of the Israelis and rids the Temple Mount from the Israeli armed forces; he then penetrates an Israeli settlement and brandishes the Palestinian banner while attacking soldiers and civilian settlers. At the last stage of the game, the hero joins the “resistance” in southern Lebanon (i.e. “Hezbollah”) and takes part in an attack launched against an Israeli military post.

The computer game, designed by the Syrian publishing house Dar al-Fikr, is referred to as the “first Arab computer game deriving its inspiration from the Palestinian Intifada, with the intention of substituting the American games used by the Arab children, which show American heroes killing Arabs or Muslims”. Hassan Salem, the project manager, explains: “we wanted to offer an alternative to the poisonous concepts to which our children are exposed when playing the American [computer] games”. Developing the game took approximately a year and a half. So far, about ten thousand exemplars have been sold in Syria, at the price of $8 each. The Syrian developers are now planning to market the game in other Arab countries as well...

Is there another version where we can be Israeli Special Forces...the objective would be to kill Arafat and to do so you would have to sneak and fight your way to the compound.

Then you get to slit Arafts throat.

THAT one I'd play.

As long as the graphics are good and the gameplay is good, I'm willing to give it a try, for comedic value.

Should be fun to reach a settlement, brandishing a palestinian banner in one hand, AK-47 in the other

Nah, playing an average terrorist is ok, but the suicide bomber option was deemed non-PC.

Afterall, kids might try it at home.

I'm not into those stalking-around, blowing-up, shoot-em up against artificial intelligences type of computer games.  So I don't know if there actually ARE games of this type that use Arabs and Muslims as the bad guys.  My kids play some of this stuff, but I know THEY don't have anything like that.

ARE there any games like that?  Are they internet interactive?

No AI in "Under Ash" could possibly reflect the reality of Israeli military skill and competency.  How realistic could this game possibly be?

Unbelievable.  Computer games that teach racial hatred.

Well, in most games, the bad guys depend on what country you fight in.

If you fight the Soviets/Russians, the bad guys look like Russians.
If you fight in central america, the bad guys look like latino coccain druglords/henchmen.
If you fight in Arabia, the bad guys look like terrorists or Iraqi military...

you get the idea.

I wonder if you get play the leader of a crack Israeli commando team. You could go to a Palestinian village, plant C4 charges on each of the villager's houses while they sleep, then detonate them. As the men, women and children flee from their burning houses you could machine gun them in full GeForce'd-up glory.

Then you could time skip your way through a lifetime of over-eating, become a bloated bigot and Prime Minister, on a pledge that you will bring peace to Israel once and for all... and go kill more Palestinians (by proxy this time, maybe as a real time strategy game). This in turn will spark more suicide bombers, leading to special 'Retaliation' units, such as an Apache attack helicopter or an F-16. These in turn lead to more suicide bombers, which lead to the generation of more Retaliation units, which lead to more suicide bombers... as infinitum.

I think that would be a very realistic simulation. A bit repetitive towards the end, but worth downloading from KaZaa.

Working title: "Ariel Sharon and The Eternal Circle of Hate"

A bit Harry Potterish, but it might increase the popularity of the game.
