This veteran supports your right to be an bellybutton during the National Anthem.

This veteran supports your right to burn a flag in protest.

This veteran better start getting your highest respect. :D

This veteran thinks that some uniform items look okay mixed with civilian attire. This veteran thinks that if you cannot wear the uniform proudly, you should get out of the service.

This veteran thought Rosanne Barr's singing was funny, but not nearly as entertaining as the aftermath.

This veteran thinks Jane Fonda was wrong. This veteran also thinks that a lot of people do very stupid things when they are young. Get over it.

This veteran never liked the term, "squid." No, it is not a term of endearment. We are American Fighting Men. What we call ourselves or each other is between us. If you are a civilian, please don't consider it okay to use these terms.

This veteran thinks Oliver North should be in jail.

There, I said it. :D

More proof of the "De-sensitivity" of the USA.  Leads to more violence, and less people who care.

What rip, protecting and using your constitutional rights leads to more violence?

If you locked every American up and just allowed them to go to work and occasionally produce children and had über Europeans to do the controlling, there'd be less violence.

But you don't want that eh?

Just the price of freedom, beyond eternal vigilance.

Just curious as to why it's considered offensive to call someone "sir".

(assuming they aren't female).

WTG Sandman. Veterans swear allegiance to the Constitution of the United States, which promotes democracy by respecting the rights of individuals to disagree with what their government is doing and even the consensus of the majority.

How many flags could you burn in Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia if you happened to disagree with the majority of your fellow citizens and the current government? I'd rather live in a country where idiots are tolerated from time to time (IMO most flag burner types lack perspective and are in it for the social aspects), than live in a county where patriots cannot stand up for what they believe is right and have their voices heard without the fear of some Brown Shirt beating them down. But them I'm part of that me, me, me generation that actually served in the military.

You're dammed right Rip, I do take this seriously. Serious as a heart attack.

The blood of our country's sons and daughters, fathers and mothers may very well be spilled soon. Furthermore, this will be done, rightly or wrongly, in our names as American citizens. People who disagree have every right, in fact they have an obligation, to make their voices  heard just as those who agree with the actions. At the end of the day, the buck stops here.

Well... it's an odd thing. I know plenty of vets that refuse to call anyone "sir" after they've left service. Me, I went the other route and I call everyone sir or ma'am regardless of rank or station.
