Horror Films - Help!
« on: January 18, 2003, 08:10:36 AM »
Hi guys

I'm hoping someone might remember a couple of films that I have memories of from the early 1980s.  I can't remember the names of the films but I'm hoping my description might ring a bell with some of you?!

#1:  Killer will only appear as a reflection in a mirror.  Wherever mirror is he'll kill.  The mirror is smashed hoping to get rid of him, but someone treads on a piece of mirror glass and it inbeds on their shoe.  This person then goes fishing and a reflection from the mirror on the shoe reflects across the lake to a barn or something.  Killer appears there and kills someone....  Can't remember anything else about this film.

#2:  Group of high school kids and teacher go up to some mountain forest in a camper.  Whilst on the way up some beast/person jumps on the vehicle.  Kids make camp and couple of kids get killed.  At some point the beast/person gets killed, or so it seems.  It turns out that the beast is one of a twin and they belong to a sort of deep south redneck weirdo family.  Anyway, I think all the kids get killed apart from the teacher, who ends up having his face put on a hot stove, burning his face.  He finally escapes to alert police but the police think he's the one that's killed them all....

So, anyone remember these films?  Thought it would be good to see them again! :)

Cheers

Hi Tronski

#1 definitely not Candyman.  I've found out that the film is called The Bogey Man and was banned in the UK in 1982, but recently re-released.

THE BOGEY MAN
aka The Boogeyman (US); Interbest American Enterprises, USA, 1981; 91 min
A Halloween re-tread with a supernatural twist, The Bogey Man is directed with undeniable gusto by one-time Fassbinder collaborator Ulli Lommel.

A woman traumatised in childhood by the murder of her mother's lover at the hands of her now-mute brother (co-author Suzanna Love) returns to the scene of the crime to try and clear her mind of harrowing memories. She happens to see the image of the dead lover in a mirror, which she smashes in panic. A fragment of the mirror appears to harbour evil powers (having "witnessed" the murder) and before long the bodies are mounting up in the customary fashion.

A lacklustre sequel consisting mainly of flashback sequences using extensive footage from the first movie followed in 1983.

Any help on the remaining #2 film?

#2 sounds a lot like Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
