"And why the heck is the US not on the Metric system?"

'cause I'd have to buy new tools

I've never had such a lousy winter. Freakin 'cold' is not descriptive enough. The proverbial 'witches tit' sounds warm.

Why not metric? Because we'd all have to get 'spanners' instead or wrenches.

Russian Empire switched to Metric 100 years ago.

But we still have many things in old measurement system. Gun calibers are the most obvious example.

Food cans, pencils, cigarettes, many other things have dimensions like 76.2mm, 152mm, 305mm. All because the tools and instruments were designed more then 100 years ago, and new ones were made by the same measures only to be compatble.

BTW, all water pipes are still in inches.
