New Arena: Air/Sea Rescue?

whine strikes back:)  but trully im with  u guys.

In what case pilot can be rescued:

-diched on sea
-bailed over sea

no missions over enemy ground

What do we need for SAR:

-2 mby 3 airplanes
 for RAF/USAF [PBY catalina]
for AXIS  som sea landed plane [viking will be big tasty target for  fighterd: or mby one of italian seaplanes)] and IJN Mavis [no doub here]

- Fast Boat /this baby we have already, option no torpedos/

How will that work in my opinion:

Downed pilot allredy stand on the water. SAR seaplane/boat should stop no more then 50 y from pilot [alt 0, speed 0 for seaplane and boat] SAR driver and only he[!!!] open dors, type command [or push button on clipboard map .pickup XXXXXXX [XXXX= player nick].

After safe landing SAR plane in base rescue plane pilot take sucessful mission, recovered pilot "ditch on friendly territory"

Than both can go for beer and girrls /can be boys - thats for u Floss ;)/

Clean simple and easy, of course if SAR plane not spot long  enemy ;)

PBY and axis plane can be used as torpedo, recon planes for other events, all depends from  load picked up in hangar

ahh one more

When SAR mission  launched?

For that rules must be a bit changed

pilot bailed over friendly land - counted as dich on friendly territory

pilot bailed dich over enemy territory - captured by enemy forces

pilot  bail/dich over sea -  if recovered as above, if not recovered M.I.A /death/

When chute touch ground host should ask  him /are u wish to be rescued? [yes/no]/ or player should send rescue request.
To save other ppls time
Then host should launch rescue mission from one of coast airfields with coordinates and pilot name.

In brefing, only sector where pilot swimm;). Name bicose if pilot live arena, his name will be recorded. Next time noone will fly for him/

imho from start SAR mission to find downed, player should be squelch /or not, mby only range channel should work/

All thats for  more reality ;)

your whining

I wholeheartedly concur.
Marvelous idea!

But if we go that route hopefully models for all major powers in the war can be gradually modeled, paving the way for more realistic country planesets and perhaps, just perhaps, an axis vs. allies contest instead of this bizarro chess conflict.  :D

Yogurt.

Heck, make it possible to pull people off the ground in a C47.  Maybe bring the old Piper spotting plane into the fray; good rough field capability and you can pick up a couple passengers in it.

SAR was one of my things way back wen, I'd be all for it in AH II.

When I first saw the title of the thread  i was ready to say no.  But applied to a mission theather - this really does have merit.  Good idea.

I'm all for SAR, might give us something to do between missions :)

Also, how about some 'SAC', Search And Capture, the one flying the plane to capture the downed pilot would get points depending on the captees rank.

So, for example, you would get a small amount of points for picking up a Gunner Sargent, but quite alot for a Flight Lt.

Also, if we ditch a bomber in the water, can we have the crew in a little yellow dingy?:)
