Such an excellent thread, hard to keep it straight who recommended what. Many vote for Tour of Duty (first recommended by gatso), which I also like but agree with some others that it's too light because it implies you have a tour and that's the end of it.
Somebody pointed out that Tours of Duty would be more accurate, and so it would.
Names with "career" in them find favor too, although WWII was more survival than career.
Which is why after rereading the entire thead with its many great suggestions, I vote for what Shane first posted as Total War. We would then have:
Aces High Classic
Aces High Total War
Another excellent choice I think is wulfies:
Aces High Combat
Aces High Warfare
As is BlauK's:
Aces High Classic
Aces High Combat Career (or just Career)

Hmmmm, and after rereading HiTech's initial post and requirements, a word that pops up often is "career," but what permeates everything is SURVIVAL. If you die you lose more than you gain when you live.
Hence, might also consider:
Aces High Classic
Aces High Survival (not Survivor, because not just one but many)
Maybe somebody can make that more active since it might sound too passive, as in cowering in a bunker instead of hunting enemies.
Minor point 1: Someone recommend a title whose acronym is AWACS, which is widely known in the U.S. as Airborne Warning and Control System. Better to have title whose acronym is not already known as something else.
Minor point 2: HiTech's initial post had it as AcesHigh, not Aces High. Please keep Aces High as two separate words and not some unnatural fusion like WordPerfect.
Minor point 3: Although Classic has a connotation of something whose prime is past, that's what this thread said the new version would be called. Something like that probably is needed to differentiate the exiting version from its becoming two new versions.
Seems to me the cleanest way to do this is the prevalent recommendations of Aces High Classic and Aces High (Whatever). Meaning not necessary to clutter the title with II, as in Aces High II Classic and Aces High II Whatever.
As several people have said, go ahead and number it Aces High 2.0 and so on, but don't make that part of the main title.
After all this, reflecting on it for the 157th time, I think Shane's
Aces High Classic
Aces High Total War
best combines the overall impact of what HiTech and crew are developing.
