this may be a silly idea but how about a towed glider.
maybe one that can carry a small gv to drop with troops or before troops.
ok so you need a toe plane but we got the c47

It's not silly, but it wouldn't contrbute much to the game.  You can already fly paratroopers in a goon faster than you could tow a glider, so if you have 2 pilots willing to carry troops (1 to tow, 1 to fly glider), then you may as well just both fly goons.  You'll get there faster and have more troops to drop, and you can approach from 2 different directions.

There have been several discussions about gliders or additional transport aircraft in the forums in the past.  You may want to see if you can't search and find some of those.

I think the general agreement was that while it would be cool, the efforts to model a plane with limited usefulness might be better spent on something else.  A glider would have limited scenario use (you'd never launch them into defenses) and would be nearly unsurvivable in the MA as even compared to the C47.

Not saying it won't happen, but saying that it isn't likely a high priority.

wasn't there that german gigant or something?   I think i remember a picture someone posted of it  in a glider configuration carrying something M8 sized ?

edit... ah ha found it:

"At the beginning of WW II the Germans built another giant. It was a glider! The Messerschmidt 321 would be used during the invasion of England. The glider could carry a lightweight tank or many equipped soldiers. The Battle of Britain gave the Allied control over their own air. Using German gliders would be suicide under these conditions. So the plan for using the gliders dropped. But they equipped the glider with engines so they could use them as transport airplanes. First they used 4 engines, quickly they placed 2 more. The name changed to Messerschmidt 323. The nickname was "Gigant"."

The Germans worked on an attack glider during the war (BV40).

It was really small wich would have made it very hard to spot for gunners. It was armored and had 2 cannons (2 MK108).
They also thought about using a mine, wich would be swung against the fuselage of a bomber.

IL2 had gunner could deploy aerial mines for lower quadrant protection.   There's all sorts of wierd stuff out there.
