Found a neat fix for my Saitek. It lets me run on Windows 2000 just the way I wanted and no mixing of drivers.
Here is an explanation on what to do. So far everything is working great. I did run into a problem with Windows 98 but I think it had to do with all the mixing of drivers to get my pedals to work before with the stick works driver.
I never spent to much time with 98 because I wanted Win 2000 anyway.
