Where's the enemy?
« on: September 10, 2000, 03:08:00 PM »
Dunno - spent couple sorties in the arena and had very hard time finding opposition. First flew as a Knight, but Rooks and Bishops were fighting each other. So I went and switched to Rooks - 10 minutes and the Knight and Bishops are fighting each other.

Now I was trapped as a Rook unable to switch sides until some 600+ minutes, well luckily I was still able to switch off AH and quit wasting my time flying around empty skies.

The arena had ~120 players: which in retrospect seemed to be enough in WB days to have constant action. Perhaps some sort of changes might be needed in the arena rules, arena design or something.

Dont take this the wrong way. But there is instant action in the H2H arenas.

I have wondered the same thing as Fats here… I find it quite difficult to find enemies in AH. Yesterday I was as a Rook and spent over 3 hours in AH and got involved about 10 fights, which is, IMHO, relatively low amount since there were over 120 players in arena. In WB I got much more action when there were maybe 20 - 30 players in arena. Then again… maybe I do something wrong. Anyway… this is not supposed to be any start of flame war… neither I am going to switch to any instant action in the H2H arenas. I am just stating the fact (for me at least) and I am wondering if anybody has the same problem.

If you folks look up you'll see 119 tiny little specks. These are the cannon hogs, barbie-fires and strato-lancs flying at 37k.

Concur wholeheartedly. I figured there was a lot of vehicular dweebing, with people testing out more Ostwinds than were ever built during the war

(rolls eyes)

But the fighting in the air, while somewhat rare, was fun

I must be an enemy magnet because every single time I log on I never have atroubles finding a fight and I never have to go above 15k to find it.
I really do scratch my head at folks who say they cannot find good fighting or all they see are 30k plus enemy.

Unless it is the time of the day. I log on between 6pm and 11pm eastern.

LoL, I had a great time "vehicular dweebing" on Saturday afternoon with some other Knits. We Launched a combined arms attack on A16(I think), complete with Panzers, Ostwinds, M-16's, fighter cover and some bombers. We didn't take the base, but it sure was a lot of fun.
