First the info.
From Pyro's FAQ post:
Will Version 1.11 still be supported when AH2 is released?
No. Version 1.11 will go away when AH2 is released, just like 1.10 went away when 1.11 was released. We only support the current version of our software, which will be 2.00 when it is released.
From the News Release:
Online play will be divided between servers running Aces High Classic - fast paced arenas with an emphasis on player vs. player combat - and the revolutionary new Tour of Duty.
Someone needs to make up thier mind.
Personally, I find the idea interesting, but I don't think I'll like it.
I came to AH during Beta days because I wanted a WW2 "Flight Sim" that didn't have mass warps or rediculous pricing.
Unfortunately, the warps have evolved to a point I can barely stand.
As for the "Flight Sim" portion: I don't like the career idea. I like the game play just like it is. (except the AK map

)
Making a RPG out of this thing is going to mean more server power soaked up, more bandwidth soaked up, and less "Flight Sim" ability.
I'll wait and see, but I'll probably have to take a step backward and go to Warbirds or something. (Though I sincerely want to stay here.)
I think back to HTC's original Mission Statement and find it unfortunate that the idea/concept that made this sim great, is no longer a factor.
Too bad.
