Next time you think about dumping you AH...
« on: February 03, 2003, 02:27:20 PM »
Someone had a thread on here about a game called Strike Fighters, Project 1.

I fell in love with the screen shots, and did some research.

Nice planes, nice era (Vietnam).

Guess what? 4 stinkin planes to choose from!

I guess I'm spoiled. 4 stinking planes and according to the reveiws (which are probably outdated) bugs out the wazoo!

Not a bash, just an observation. I'll stick with AH, and forgo the eye candy, thanks.

I hang with a fairly active sim community here in New Zealand, and we've recruited about 4 guys from the Flight Sim section. The other 30 or so can't get their heads around AHs "aged" graphics engine.

They all rave about Strike Fighters and will support that to the hilt, but trash AH. I don't get it. I prefer flying against real people. Eye Candy doesn't matter when the gameplay is just so superior in AH to anything out there, including Il2. I tried Strike Fighters but the CTDs and bizarre AI drove me nuts.

I think that they are scared to be shown up as less than "Uber", and some of them complain about the lack of "historical" gameplay while of course ignoring TOD or Scenarios. The most perplexing thing is they all seem to be mature intelligent guys!

AH2 should sort them out. Probably not though (sigh).

I went to the SFP1 website to check it out and came away scratching my head.  Not one place on that website tells how to get a copy of the game and the FAQ alone is pretty disappointing after reading what planes are available to fly.
