Audigy or ALC650
« on: February 04, 2003, 02:34:31 PM »
Just got a new MB,
it has an onboard RealTek ALC650 6 channel sound card. From my old PC I have taken out the Audigy before I kicked the rest of it round my garden for my amusment.

What is best? I know the Audigy is supposed to be the best for lowest CPU usage, but does have issues with hogging the PCI bus. I only have 2 channel sound and spend most of my time with headphones on, so the 5.1 channel sound on both cards is not a consideration.

I mainly play AH, but do have the odd game of UT2003, Americas Army and Ghost recon. Will be getting Mech 4 Mercs & BF1942 this weekend
What is the best bet? the SB card with its good SNR and low CPU but bus hogging atributes and disk filling drivers or the ALC650 with its std implementation of EAX but light weight drivers.

Cheers
