Weather

Here's a thought for a much later version: weather. Let me explain.

-variable wind speed and direction, with random changes (and a wind sock)

-varying temperatures at different altitudes.

-overcast skies, with varying cloud celings and tops.

-rain, yes rain, and rain effects, such as the droplets on your windscreen that blow off (see Flight Unlimited 2 for details)

-icing effects at high altitudes.

-wind sheer.

-wet runways

and at very least, mud spray for grass landings and ditches, and the tanks leave tracks n the mud.

my 2 cents.

I think rain is a definate no no purely because it will kill your frame rate.

I know we are getting snow for the mountain peaks, but it will be good to have snow all around A1 and perhaps the four corners.

Anyway.... I'm happy with whatever they bring on....

Texace,

I agree, more weather would be welcomed. It will be a matter of programming efforts and frame rates.

I especially like the idea of windsocks and winds at airport. I look forward to a good crosswind landing in a Mustang.

Overcast sky would be an entertaining addition to the sim. It might allow a lone survivor buf to get home from deep within enemy territory, sort of like in WWII.

I hope that clouds have a realistic level of transparency in them at some point. Although vis in clouds varies from cloud to cloud, it is generally enough for two planes in tight formation to see one another. Lose your wingman in the soup, though, and this spells trouble.

Looking forward to more weather.

Somewhat related to (dry) weather -
How about dust plumes from moving ground vehicles? I think this will balance with the upcoming elimination of distant nme ground vehicle dots.

This is something I hope is in 1.03.

You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.
