Hiding Tracks and Roads
« on: October 22, 2002, 05:38:21 PM »
Hello!

Is there any tools to hide "too visual" railway tracks and roads? My terrain is dark green and those roads are not nice looking from the air, because you can see their white lines from very long distance...

I tried to darken the roads and tracks, but it didn't help! Can I do anything for this problem???

Its very simple.......... the road graphic is made of two files

road.bmp and road_a.bmp

road_a.bmp  is a screening bit map..change it all to black and your road will not be visible close up..............it may however catch the sun as it sets when viewed at a distance............

I use this for roads and rivers..............trains look a bit wierd travelling without track!

Thank you Tilt, I tried it and the roads and tracks are still  visible from distance, not near. It is not nice looking: white lines and 90 degrees curves in the middle of the forestes...:(

By the way Tilt, I have made those lend lease planes to my Finland Russia map by myself, but I use your Boston III, of course! Thank you for it! ;)

Or have you done something lend lease planes to my map? If you are, I want to see them, because I am beginner with skins!

I was wondering if you solved your problem?

Turning both .bmp files
Road.bmp and Road_a.bmp to pure black will make them invisible from everywhere.

I did some testing on this last night. If you set the Road_a to completely black the road will not show up ( althou it is still there) BUT the "shimmer" of the road still remains at high alts, it goes away when you get closer to the ground.

roads/nav points

I would think the roads should be visible. eventhough they make a corny effect. I use the roads as nav points, they can be seen from GV's to make heading adjustments to targets behind hills.  Just a thought...

I wouldnt worry about them.. most know they are just strat requirements.
