FOID or firearms owners ID card means that you must be licensed to own a firearm here????? If this is the case then they have created a defacto registration and limit on ownership absent any criminal activity. Who gets to decide if you are authorized to get a FIOD???? I guess you better not piss them off.

I tried to check on the link relating to FIOD only but the link was broken.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

It sounds like they're trying to jump through a loophole.  Most states allow you to carry a gun in a case.  Now they're attaching the case to themselves.

Interesting indeed.  I'm not sure what the FIOD is though.

FOID is just a special ID for buying a gun.  You don't have to own a gun to have one, but you do have to have a FOID to buy a gun.  You send in your name, address, photo, etc., and they send you back a card.  You show the card to buy a gun, instead of your driver's license.  I don't believe you need a FOID to shoot, only to own.  I think it also satisfies the background check requirement.
