If you're in a mission with bombers, is it better for the goon to fly NOE or up with the bombers?

How do you recover from compression in a goon?

S!

goon flying high has its advantages.  most goon hunters are looking for low flying dots.  so if you have several goons, have one grab just a bit and the other one stay low.  it betters your chances at making your drop.

as far as compression goes, i think the c-47 starts to lose parts before your controls freeze up.

The goon suffers compression at low speed.
So be careful.

Our Goons normally fly nap of the land.
With one of us at 3k scortin' them, so if any cons show. they have to deal with ME, not the goons.

I`ve stopped flying Goons simply because NO ONE, ABSOLUTELY,NO ONE !! Bothers to escort Goons.
When they do. They are 99% of the time, too slow, too late, too inexperienced or too busy to bother:mad:

The only problem I see with high flying goons is that to capture the field sooner or later they're going to have to come down to drop the troops.   When you consider that and the time it would take to get a goon up that high I'd just as soon drive it in the weeds like most people do.

Well AV8 some people do escort goons.  Perhaps you need to link up with a squad that will support you (if you are not already in one).

As for flying goons.....there are benefits to flying low mid and high alts.  High alt on a capped field ensures you are out of the enemy range (buddys will vulch baddies) as you fly overhead and then ensure the town is dead.

Mid alt allows you to "Blend" in with the pack going to the field and keeps you in the area where your LA7 buddies are at best performance assuming you have them for escort.  You can also dive to town or grab slightly to allow guys to cover.  You can also outturn any aircraft pretty much and use the vertical element to help you.

Low alt is good for staying off dar, landing easily at the field, and doing precision pull ups to allow best pattern for troops to take the field.  ALso forces baddies to come down on you and you can still use the vertical up.  Also guys that get over zealous and dive on you from high alts might auger while trying to get you.

Experiment...fly in the situation that suits the coverage you have and bottom line dont give up.
