Has anyone else made a perfect landing on a CV only to roll off the back? This really ticks me off and has happened more than once. Can't figure out what I do differently from normal landings where I don't roll back. When I start rolling back I hit the brakes and it didn't even slow me down. Lost 37 perks on a F4U-4 this morning. Anybody???

When you've landed on the CV with one of the navy planes (ie one with a tailhook) make sure you retract your hook while on the rearm pad. If you don't, you'll get rocketed off the back of the CV when you start to roll again.

Sorry, people say this happens, but I haven't rolled backwards yet. I land, I stop, F4U-C and D, and F6F. I watch for it but it just hasn't happened to me. I do hit late though, near the end of the barrier maybe that makes a difference?

I just need to figure out how to keep the F6F from slamming its prop on landing:)

It depends on several things...

If your rpm is at 2100, the big prop acts a flat piece of plywood, and the headwind pushes agaist what is like a solid object.

Also, if the CV is turning, for some reason you get shot back, but the resistor cables do not cause that.

I've lost several hogs that way, and it's not fun at all.

I think it only happens when you trap one of the first cables.

could happen because your speed is less than the gvs on landing???

It's happened to me several times, usually in the FM-2 for some reason. If the cv is turning it seems to increase the chances of it happening, whether it actually does or not I don't know. I've begun making sure my throttle is completely closed when I drop onto the deck and it hasn't happened since, but then again maybe I've just been lucky recently.
