Clipboard woes....possible solution?
« on: February 07, 2003, 10:07:31 AM »
not sure if this would be possible, or if it would hender any performance, but thought it was worth a shot.

what do you guys think? has this been proposed before? is there a reason why it would not be a viable solution?

another thought, rather than being under the GUI setup, it could possibly be a new button at the top such as the Field Numbers, Spawn points, Alt, etc. The gui would control the opacity still. The buttons would give the option of quick off or on.

How about the opacity of the entire map?  Sliding it to the max would show zero terrain features (with the exception of say, water) and just fields/important strat targets.  I'd go for that.

Right now I have to change the icon color in order to get a good contrast between field info and the color of the radar map.

As someone who plays at 1600x1200....the new map sucks on radar clipboard view.  I cant see crap because the radar map is all colorful and speckled.

We need radar maps like the Combat Theater....easy to read, without the need for all the detail.

At 1600x1200 most maps are ok...but far from perfect....but the new trinity map...its USELESS...cant see altitudes or base numbers without zooming all the way in and sticking my nose on the monitor.

ahh, one more point.

would it be possible to keep the numbers/dar bars/dots etc a constant color instead of becoming dim during sunset, clouds, or sunrise? Even when zoomed in, it's really tough to read the characters during these times.

and, i think someone also mentioned a point about making the color of the map icons independent of the colors of player icons. this might be a less complicated implementation for readability of the map than the black boxes i have proposed above.

just some more thoughts.

I thought I was alone. I have to go to the map room and memorize where targets are cuz I cannot make out anything clearly on the map.

Bein colorblind doesnt help me much either.:(

I've been asking for ages for a brightness control for the entire clipboard.  Nothing more I hate is when it's dark and you bring the ultra bright clipboard up and it dazzles you.....argh!

Your other ideas would be very useful too!  :)
