It's kind of funny but on the website they say, "The Japanese called the F4U Corsair in its many versions the "Whispering Death" during World War II."

Unless I've misread for years the Japanese called it "Whistling Death". This was due to the unique sound the engine made caused by the wing-root air inlets...

"Whispering Death" is what the Japanese called the Beaufighter. No.272 Squadron RAF flew the Beaufighter, hence why our squadron is called No.272 Sq "Whispering Death".

Sandman - do you want an updated interview? :)

If you guys want an updated interview, send them to Sandman. He's taking the time to post these to highlite squadrons for folks to view them and decide which to join.

Your welcome, you deserve a thanks! I never received one when I kept it updated but I didn't expect one either, I simply did it for AH squadron exposures.
