Just you. Those silly mass goon drops were going on before they (MAW) even came to AH.

Actually Ice, this is not what happens.  When a reset occurs the server dumps everyone to reset the terrain.  It does not "choke" and lock up.  Doing a mass goon drop, however, does lock up the server.

Completely different end result as those that are on when the server locks get their computers locked up etc.

To deliberately do this is in the very least highly inconsiderate to your fellow players, no matter what excuses everyone can dream up.

And further to your post about doing the same with bombs or torps etc, HiTechs explanation shows that only troops are broadcast to everyone in the arena so ordinary ordinance will not have the same effect...

Somehow I suspect that this thread is about become locked...

Anyway, before it does:

Hitech, presumably you can tell how many of a given object there is in a given area at one time?  How about simply setting a limit on the number of troops that can be dropped at a given time.  Once that limit is exceded you get a system message that says, "Sorry, too many troops." at the time one tries to drop them?  That way, a mission could still have many transports but the transports would need to wait their turn to drop.

Yes I realize all of the above and perhaps could have worded my post better. How ever as I pointed out I have never and will never do anything to intentionally pork the server the game or anyones fun. If I gave any potential cheaters out ther any idea's this I regret very very much! How ever anyone intending on cheating wont need my idea's or words to do it. The cheater will find his own way to hose everyone he can. Its in his nature he cant help it.

I think I have some idea how einstien felt when he let the nucular genie out of the bottle. Not having any idea on how to put it back nor any idea if he should try.

here's a free clue for you.

see those two buttons up in the right hand side? "edit" and "quote"?

i see you know how to use "quote"  try and click "edit"  on the post you want to, ummm, welll.... edit.

when you do that, you'll find you actually have two options, one is to simply edit your post, the other is a box in the upper left saying "delete post"  you can check that box then "delete now" and presto that particular genie is back in the bottle.

or as i said you can edit, an dthen click "save changes" and presto, the genie is capped to the extent you edited it as long as no one down thread quoted you.

too bad good ole swapspit didn't bother to clue you in.

Slapshot-

Why bother?

We all know how much respect Shane garners on this board.Let him talk to himself.

Theres a select few on this board that do nothing but spew nonsensical drivel. Simply ignore them. They won't go away, but you'll find arguing with them is equivalent to debating a toddler.

Your time is much more valuable than that.

I haven't flown this TOD but if I was to take a virtual plane up on one of the few times I get to fly and I saw a massive goon mission I'd be torn about either reporting their field of origin and possible target on Ch1 OR logging so that the server lockup doesn't screw me.

Most likely I'll chose to announce on Ch1 since a server lockup will adversly affect everyone in the arena....something that should be avoided at all costs.

So, goon ahead, make my day!

Either
1. remove field capture (just glory for the milkrunners anyhow)
2. group all the troops into 1 chalk, like a supply drop....1 target. So 10 dweebs in goons only add 10 targets.
3. outlaw squadnights or any other sort of "strategry".

Otherwise, good thread, tho from now on I think everyone should be required to talk in only caps...we are working on a 2 page thread flaming each other about gooney birds after all.

Actually Blue, that WAS what was happening, as well as the mass goon drops. When a terrain was won and the server started to do the you have 5 minutes to land your sorry arses thing then chokes appeared.

I believe this is what prompted the change to a daily score update from the old realtime score update. At the time these chokes were happening AH had started getting big numbers in the arena. Think about it, 600 people all landing, realtime score updates and sorting... bam!

You might owe Ice an apology :)

Heh....we did a mass goon flight at the con 2 yrs ago.  I dont remember who the pilot was who found us, but he got a crapload of kills in a very short amount of time that night.
