Were there any squad to squad firefights in the first Gulf War? All I hear is about is a few tank battles and some jets getting shot down. I have not heard anything in the past 12 years about U.S. troops engaging Iraqis in squad based combat.

There is one video clip they show on the discovery channel/history channel every now and then. Some Marines are in the desert, its dark and the camera is using night vision. Outgoing tracers can be seen, probably from a M60. When they play the whole clip, you can hear someone yell "Corpman! Corpman get over here!". And you see a few troops run over to some Marine lying prone. Then the clip ends.

Any info or anecdotes would be appreciated.

Chevenement was against the war even with a UN resolution

Actual governement (if you make abstraction of the actual conflict of interrest between US and France) will follow any resolution leading to war and will help in this case.

The question is : is there a UN resolution asking for war.
None yet.
