Why don't the German planes have metric gauges or German wording?  The same would follow for the other countries, too.  Just curious.  I think it would add a nice flare of authenticity to see a realistic cockpit.

it would double texture volume for cockpit gauges and make for some confusion over radio when giving coordinates info.

it would be a nice idea, but it would be hard for japanese or (some) americans and europians to read it, since English still is the international language.

Europeans and Japanese use Metric. . .it would be easier for them to read.  Regardless, it's a matter of authenticity.  And, it's not that confusing to use metric, I find it easier.

I'm sure HTC will gradually work their way up to it.

Currently, AH offers absolutely the best quality of the game with a very very small size of download. I've yet to see a game so small in size offer such gameplay for massive on-line games.

I think I've heard that realistic cockpits would buff up the total size of download twice or thrice..

No major changes I'd expect from the last series of "version1" AH.. but I suspect there might be some changes and improvements with the upcoming AH2. :)

It's not using yourself but having the other guy or yourself be forced to translate each time the two aren't in the same units in their plane.

Maybe people could have the option of choosing between Metric and Standard and English and where the plane is from (i.e. Bf109s either English or German)

And how realistic would it be if the pilot couldn't even read his own gauges?

It's not simply a mater of what you see in the cockpit. It's a mater of not having to switch units when changing planes.

Not having to translate when talking to others.

Mission planers are all the same units.

Sector sizes are layed out in miles.

Plane performance charts.

What it all comes down to is there are a lot of resones for everyone to play on the same units. It could be all metric but because our largest market is the US we choose the current system.

WARBIRDS II had a switch in the set-up where you could have metric or SAE gages. This may have been just the gage faces and not the exact measurements such as between MPH vs. KPH and Feet vs. Meters.

Why not? it would be a great/fun way to teach the community to use the metric system. I'm sure there's alot of players out there that don't know it or even tried... I'm one. I hear it's "better" compared to the west.
