Old Timers... Win 95 question
« on: February 23, 2003, 06:21:48 PM »
Hey Folks,

I’m hitting the road for a few weeks training airport firefighters. While on the road, I’ll be using an old Gateway 2000 laptop computer (233 MHz, Win 95, 64 Meg Ram and the latest Opera Browser w/o Java). Hey, I’ll replace it with the cash I earn from this trip.

The problem at hand is:
I’m using an old external Phoebe V1433VQE modem with the Rockwell chipset. I can connect to the Internet at 9.9 baud. I tried going to Systems>> Device Manager>> Modems>> and setting the connection rate higher.

I also tried: Systems>> Device Manager>>Com 1 port and setting the connection rate higher… I’m still at 9.9

Any advice?

BTW: Can a phone card (ATT-Sam’s Club) be used from a hotel room with Win 95?

If worst comes to worst, I can always bang two rocks together for my Internet connection.

Thank you.

That the best you can do modem wise Ozark?

Does it have a lan port or card for networking? If so just plug into local lan wherever your at.

At 9.9 Baud getting your email could take all night.
