All ya had to do was read their placards, no matter where were protesting.

A bunch left hippy crap.

"Well I dunno man, why cant we just kill them with kindness"

"Bush is like..........Hitler man"

"If werent for those damn American SUVs man, the US would not  attack Iraq......hmm attack Iraq, that rhymes man....."

"Its all about the oil man, black gold to fuel Bushler's stormtroopers man"

Gruen was "degenerate left wing hippies"

If you held hands with umm chanting the same crap so are you.(general statement here)

Ask Bounder why he marched, I'm sure it won't fit into easily lampooned sound-bites.

But then that's not the point is it?

It doesn't matter that you can generalise a whole bunch of people from many different backgrounds and beliefs into one homogenous mass, all chanting slogans that you find easier to tackle or argue against?

Ok.

Dowding, I will take your word on bounder, I haven't paid attention to any of his posts yet.

The point isn't to have one well informed person speak for the group. If that were so then there should imo be one well informed protestor out on the streets.

If these people cannot think for themselves, it weakens their position don't you think? If a person is going to protest something, it'd be nice for them to have a position that they can substantiate without a prompter.

Afterall when people sign a petition they sign their names, they don't just write down "ditto" and the date. It doesn't mean as much. I mean if they are going to blindly follow others in their neighborhood that is their right, but it doesn't add credibilitiy to their cause.

From some of the signs and comments I've read in the news I was pretty convinced these folks were handsomehunkes, and that clip didn't help.

I would love to see one person who has answers (that may not speak for everyone but at least justify his/her personal position on the matter) to some basic questions about why they are doing what they are doing.

I love seeing people state their opinion and be able to back it up with a reasonable argument, even if I disagree..at least I know the light is on and someone is home.  I can at least respect that.

Search Bounders post he says the same thing those protesters says.

The US has bio weapons blah blah blah.

The US wants Iraqi oil blah blah blah

The US gave Iraq the weapons to begin with blah blah blah

The US has no right to take the moral high ground blah blah blah

The same bs as them "peace niks".

Some Bounder quotes

Quote
I don't buy the message that we must disarm Iraq because of some moral issue of doing what is 'right', since doing what is 'right' has bever worried any administration.

Quote
The UK (and several of its allies) are also exploiting loopholes in international agreements on chem weapons. You can make whatever chem agents you like and use them, provided you do so as a police action internally, rather than a military one externally. We know more about Iraqi chemical weapons than we do about our own stocks.

As for Bioweapons, again, loophole exploitation. We are keeping signicant stocks (and as Powell demonstrated with his cocaine bottle, significant doesn't need to be very much) of bioweapons. Nor are we allowing inspectors in to verify that they are solely for the purposes of engineering defences against bioweapons. All this finger pointing at Iraq starts to expose a lot of double standards when viewed closely.

Quote
And the other problem with painting Iraq black in the eyes of the public, is that by inference, the painter must be whiter than white. And we look around and hey, we're not whiter than white.

Quote
I am going to protest against any war because I simply do not believe that full scale armed conflict and all it entails, is the best solution that the combined brilliance of allied experts and analysts can come up with.

I suspect it (war) might be the most economically and politically expedient method to force a result in a short (electorally speaking) time.

If that is the case, then fine, but at least our Government should have the cojones to say so.

There will of course be many other factors influencing the Government for and against. And please, Oil is not the only reason for going to war but to deny that it has any connection with events in Iraq is breathtaking denial beneath even most politicos.

Defence of the Realm, my arse.

Now watch that video again, you hear the same Nonsense.

Basically we are being fooled. Iraq is only a danger because we made him that way. Since its our Fault we cant really do anything but bend over and thank him. We only spent 12 years waiting for him to disarm, what is the rush now. The British and US government are lying to the world because (war) might be the most economically and politically expedient method to force a result in a short (electorally speaking) time.. And dont forget the oil.

All we need is a Bushler reference and he could places anywhere in that video.

I am not picking on Bounder, you brought him up. I can go dig up other crap like this that other anti-Bush types have posted on this board in regards to Iraq. While they are not 100% homogenous they are 90% so. Since you keep making the claim that not all these degenerates were are the same direct me to one who says something different.

Why resort to personal insults when I'm so clearly wrong that you can easily refute the posts I made?

"Its about water rights in the Persian Gulf"

"This is so we can drive our 12 mpg SUV's"

"This is all about world domination"

ROFL - someone needs to hand them briefing papers so they get their stories and protests straight.  Great find Kanth.

It wasnt a "personal" insult in was a "general" insult.

Dowding brought you up and said

Quote
Ask Bounder why he marched, I'm sure it won't fit into easily lampooned sound-bites

All I did was point out how well you "fit in".

As for disputing your arguement, it has been disputed. Even in that video.

We arent going to invade Iraq just because we think hes bad but because we think he threatens our Security. Regardless of who gave him what. Do a search for the "Bush Doctrine" as it outlines the motivation behind regime change in Iraq.

Its folks like those "demonstrators" that cant seem to follow the reasons. So they make them up. Or they "read between the lines" and tell the rest of us what Bush "really" wants despite what he says.

I dont support the invasion, but not based on some left wing hippie crap but because I believe that in the long run we could face something worse. A fundamentalist government taking over Iraq, Kurda and Shia's both attempting to form their own nations etc.... And the disintegration of long term alliances and allies.

I agree with the Idea of "containment" but I understand that after 9/11 that in this new type of "war" containment isnt the guarrantee it was when we were facing the Soviet Union.

If you want argue or "protest" about the merits of attacking Iraq put up a real arguement.

If your protest was a "local thing" related to just your government then I could careless about it. But Dowding brought you up and after quick search I found the same things I saw in that video in your reply I quoted.

So if you take "personal offense", so what, write it on placard and carry in your next march. :p
