voice ?
« on: February 23, 2003, 11:32:04 AM »
I've just started. I can tune my radio to myself and using "t" it works. How come I can't hit anyone else right next to me when I hit f12? I don't get the beep or transmission.

Thanks

In clipboard go to setup, in setup go to keymapping -under "global" section check that the f12 is set to mic "range"  If not assign f12 to range.

If you tune "V" vox channel to another players id do they hear you?  Test that first.

You will hear your voice through the speakers anyway if the microphone is working correctly but it may not necessarily be transmitting on the radio channels.

If T works then F12 should also if your keymapping is ok.  In a tower you should get a list of those in the room and in F12 range, when ever you press a radio channel and check that range works.

I would check your mic is working in Windows recorder first to set the recording level, then re-check keymapping in the game.

Also check in dxdiag (type dxdiag in run box on start menu) that you have sound acceleration turned down one notch left in the sound page, it helps especially for onboard sound chips if you have one.

When I tune the radio to myself and hit "t" I get a beep, then there's a slight delay, and then I hear what I just said through the speakers.

If I tune to someone else within range it doesn't work and I don't hear my voice through the speakers. If I'm looking at the radio box, the "T" is lit up when I push the key in both cases.

When I hit the F12 button that lights up too, but there's not beep and apparently no voice goes out.

I dont' know if this is a factor but the V radio changes tunings, sometimes its 4 squad when I log on and sometimes it's 101. If I've just tuned my radio it will read both 4 squad and divide, for example.

Just a quick note-

when typing another player's name in the voice box, it must be typed EXACTLY the same.  Example, my handle is MaNiaCaL, but if you type maniacal, it will not work.  (case sensitive)

  Good luck!!
